BEAVER VALLEY BANKED SLALOM 2022 | RECAP + VIDEO + GALLERY
Ontario’s annual end-of-season, spring snow gathering, welcomed over 400 riders to shred the banks, lap one of Ontario's premier parks, and hang on the party deck. All in celebration of snowboard culture and in support of some great causes.
Along with collective support from over 40 leading brands, the 8th edition of the event brought out local and industry legends, including the likes of Kevin Young, Dennis Bannock, Steve Jarrett, Dave Wright, Jesse Fulton, Scott Birke, Paul Chapman, Mike Hartman, Brad Martin, Jamie Reekie, Cory Hafermehl, Caleb Bosse, Rob Madill, Jay Shoemaker, Stef Cott, Ryan Caesar, Kevin Konings, and Richard Roth, among others, mixing it up with the next generation.
Thanks to its industry backing, this year’s Beaver Valley Banked Slalom generated $19,000 for the local Markdale hospital in memory of Beaver Valley snowboarder Jacki Snarr and $3,500 for the Dillon Ojo Lifeline Foundation.
On the Banked Slalom course, Mikey Nazwaksi, one of several National Team riders hailing from Beaver Valley, bested the field of 260 to claim the Fastest Rider trophy, as well as win the age 20-29 “Almost Washed Up” category. Masters category riders Ryan Tryhane and Kenny Reidman were close behind, tied for second. Beaver Valley’s Meghan Loney was named Fastest Women, followed by Olivia Meldrum and Kiersten Higginson. Other standouts were Dennis Bannock taking the Immortals category and Kevin Konings winning the Legends.

Event highlights included the Union Bindings Fastest Industry Rider and Vans “So Hip” Best Method contest with riders launching high above the resort party deck. Renowned pipe riders Brad Martin and Trevor Niblett grabbed the Vans Best Method and Union Bindings Fastest Industry titles, respectively. Huge thanks to Kevin Young and Dennis Bannock for judging the Best Method. A packed outdoor aprés featured bbq, bands, beers and tons of prize draws all afternoon. A high point was the music of Destros Secret featuring Beaver Valley’s legendary park builder Caleb Bosse on drums.
