You’ve seen the social media jump on #StepOn and you already have opinions and preconceived reactions. Now stop thinking what you’re thinking. And don’t say nothin’ until you’ve stepped on and spun a few laps. And then and only then, we’ll talk about it. Until that time comes here’s what you need to know.

We were fortunate enough to spend two days riding Step On with a few VIP’s. Canada’s elite Burton accounts, Rob Sprague the head of Step On prototyping, Burton’s president John Lacy, backcountry boss Mikey Rencz and the one and only Mark Sollors.

It most of our first time seeing, understanding, and riding this new generation of step in technology. Honestly, coming in with an open mind was difficult. Leaving with one wasn’t. Keep in mind there's a whole generation of riders that have never seen or ridden a step in binding before.

I spent two days riding Burton SI back in ’99 and two days this week with Step On. After 25 years of strap in snowboarding I’m not ready to give a full review of the product but wouldn’t hesitate to spend another of my precious riding days figuring out if this is my new set up.

•Performance, performance, performance. This product will preform great for beginners, but it wasn’t designed specifically for them. The goal was to make Step On it ride as good or better than Burton’s boot / binding system

HOW IT WORKS

•Three connection points. One in the heel and two at the toe. On the toes of each boot’s forefoot, Toe Cleats keep the toes securely fastened in the Step On binding

•Designed with the same locking teeth found in traditional binding buckles, this component found on the heel of all Step On boots acts as the primary retention component for the Step On system.

• Exit the binding easily using the quick release lever. Once disengaged, it instantly resets the lock for hands-free re-entry.
