Liam Brearley | Smith Optics
In the spring of 2025, we caught up with Liam Brearley at his home mountain, Blue Mountain Resort in Ontario, to reflect on his breakthrough 2024/2025 season, officially welcome him to the Smith Optics fam, and rip a few park laps in between.
The past few years have been game changing for Liam. What seemed like overnight, he won the 2024 Laax Open, topped the podium at the 2025 X Games Knuckehuck, and made history on March 21, 2025, as Canada’s first-ever men’s snowboard slopestyle world champion. To cap off the season, he even pre-qualified for the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina.
Since filming this video, Liam has undergone ankle and knee surgery, which sidelined him from competing in the 2026 Olympics. But setbacks haven’t slowed him down, recovery is now the priority, and his sights are set on the 2030 Olympic Games in the French Alps.
“My younger self would be freaking out, knowing the situation I’m in," says Liam. "It’s been ramping up and getting noisy the past few seasons, but it’s important for me to focus on the things I love the most in snowboarding. Like pushing myself and riding for fun with friends. That will never change.”
