Building a K2 Alchemist Snowboard With Justin Clark
We infiltrated K2's Advanced Research Collective facility (aka ARC) earlier in the fall during their Landscape Snowboard Discussion (L.S.D.) event, which brought together pro riders, designers, engineers, and key shop workers to celebrate snowboarding and connect the community that K2 enhances.
We had heard rumours that elite snowboard designer/genius Justin Clark would be building an Alchemist, the flagship board of K2's Landscape Collection. Packed with tech, The Alchemist is comprised of 64 individual parts, such as a SpaceGlass™ tip insert and patented Spectral Braid technology. We whipped out the camera to capture the build, and Justin beasted the process with humour and humility. Watch on below!
The whole weekend put on by K2 was a well executed whirlwind, but getting to check out their prototype facility was the cherry on top. We were shoulder to shoulder with professional snowboarders such as Kennedi Deck, Jake Kuzyk, Gabe Ferguson, Sage Kotsenburg, Aya Sato, and Parker Szumowski. We chopped it up with friends from stateside snowboard media, hardworking shop kids from across North America, and a couple real gems doing rigorous testing and development at the ARC. Seeing the way the K2 team hold themselves behind closed doors was inspiring; real snowboarders putting in the time and effort to craft a product that they can truly be proud of.
