Clouds: States of Submersion | Korua Shapes

The approach that Korua Shapes takes to filmmaking is slow, methodical, and mindful. For their latest short film, 'Clouds: States of Submersion', Nicholas Wolken floats in and out of abstraction, as facilitated by cinematographer Matt Foley. Pristine turns fade into dreamlike visuals, before we're drawn back into the act of snowboarding. Shot across Hokkaido, Japan, every single turn was earned by foot. In classic Korua Shapes fashion, there are moments of both slowness and speed, where movement becomes the focus through an all-encompassing monochromatic treatment.
